"I am molecular life with manual dexterity and a cognitive mind"

This is a fascinating talk by neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor in which she describes the stroke she had caused by an aneurysm in the left side of the brain. She talks about the disconnect she experienced between the right and left hemispheres of her brain during the stroke.

What I find most interesting is her description of having the left brain completely shut off. She says it was nirvana: a silence of the internal monologue, a heightened state of awareness, and a greater understanding and dissolving of individual self.

In her book, she writes "peace is only a thought away, and all we have to do to access it is silence the voice of our dominating left mind." (source) The quote in the main title is also from the same source.

The move is 18 minutes, but worth it.
